If you look in the mirror and constantly don’t like who you see, why don’t you change? Easier said than done right?
I think we struggle with successful change because we sometimes forget where real change starts. The Apostle Paul wrote this to the church in Rome:
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2 (ESV)
That word transform translates to a modern word metamorphosis, which means to be made new.
An example of metamorphosis is what happens to a caterpillar when it becomes a butterfly. He doesn’t just grow wings, instead he becomes something completely different, something more beautiful, something that doesn’t creep along the ground, but instead flies through the air…completely different in nature.
Transformation is God’s plan for all of us, and it begins with a conscious choice to stop thinking and behaving like the world. So the next time you look in the mirror and think of changing, remember: it’s up to you. It can be real change –Transformation. For more, check out Sunday’s message: ALIEN
